The Minneapolis Marriott City Center is a key connection the city to serve guests, businesses, and residents. CR served as the Architect of Record for this project, after completing the M-Club renovation a few years prior. We worked closely with the interior designer, project manager, and investment firm to seamlessly renovate this hotel from concept and model rooms, to completion. Connecting to the city’s sky walk, the triangular shape of the building, and the unique entry sequence all presented a challenge for the design team to work within and overcome.
With the hotel lobby being located on the 5th floor, it was determined early in the project that the design of the hotel's registration area was a priority. Relocating the registration area allowed the hotel to activate the space to be more engaging, and to provide a welcoming guest experience when arriving from either the street level or the city’s sky walk into the open lobby. The bar was expanded, and a private dining space with a glass partition was added to increase curiosity. Due to the triangular building shape, and the existing fully glazed exterior, each room had to be carefully thought through to ensure guest expectations and brand recognition was met.
